With reference to your letter of the 16th ultimo,

regarding the shipment of hides and produce from China

to Italy, I am directed by Secretary Sir E.Grey to in-

form you that the rule by which you stipulate for all

business done with Italian buyers that they must pro-

cure a sworn statement, legalised by one of His Majesty'

Consuls, that the goods are for Italian consumption and

will not be re-exported to any country at war with

Great Britain should continue to be observed.
